When Brightstar Lottery set out to pilot its new Retailer Pro S2 clerk-facing lottery terminal at local retailers, the goal was clear: to test and evaluate its ability to deliver unmatched speed, reliability, and convenience for retail clerks and store owners alike. Over the course of a three-month pilot at Pick 'N Pay and Milk & More, two independently owned convenience stores in Rhode Island, the Retailer Pro S2 exceeded expectations and left a lasting impression.
Pick 'N Pay’s 'mom-and-pop' charm belies its bustling activity—despite its size, the store handles a high volume of transactions daily, making efficiency and space optimization critical to its operations. The Retailer Pro S2 proved to be an ideal match for this environment, thanks to its space-saving footprint and thoughtfully streamlined design. Anjan Thapa, the store’s owner, was quick to praise the terminal’s efficiency, noting how it helped him better manage the packed workspace behind the counter.
At Milk & More, the Retailer Pro S2 also demonstrated how its compact and efficient design could transform even the most hectic of spaces. Rocky, the owner of Milk & More, has extensive experience with the original Retailer Pro terminal. His familiarity allowed him to quickly master the Retailer Pro S2, showcasing its refined features during high-volume periods.

The Retailer Pro S2 quickly became a favorite for Anjan and his brother, Aro. Both were candid in their glowing feedback about how the new terminal transformed their lottery sales.
Touchscreen Ease and Speed: The high-definition, multi-touch display of the Retailer Pro S2 was a standout feature for all clerks. “It’s faster, easier, and just better to use,” said Aro of Pick ‘N Pay. Similarly, Rocky at Milk & More noted how the larger display enhanced usability, making transactions smoother and more efficient. Both Aro and Rocky valued how this tech upgrade increased their speed without adding complexity.
Zero Jams, High Reliability: Anjan highlighted the remarkable reliability of the terminal, pointing out that the terminal didn’t jam once during the pilot. At Milk & More, Rocky praised the improved ticket reader, expertly demonstrating how its faster processing allowed him to scan through playslips with precision even during rush hours.
Optimal Power Button Location: A small but significant improvement, a repositioned power button prevented accidental shutdowns during routine cleaning.
Speed You Can Count On: From printing tickets to scanning barcodes, the terminal consistently delivered a fast and smooth operation, saving precious seconds during busy times.
The benefits of the pilot extended beyond validation of the terminal; they also uncovered helpful insights to make the Retailer Pro S2 even better for users like Aro and Anjan. For example, they suggested relocating the barcode scanner to the bottom of the display for even greater space-saving potential. This suggestion is now being explored for future versions of the product.
The terminal left such a positive impression that clerks from both pilot locations expressed sadness at its removal at the end of the pilot period. From Aro and Anjan to Rocky and his team, the terminal's ability to meet the demands of fast-paced, high-volume stores was unequivocal. Their enthusiastic endorsements underscore the terminal's success in redefining efficiency and usability in retail lottery environments.
